Nuclear energy is rising again as a key for carbon neutrality and energy security. We are very happy to host ICAPP 2023 / 38th KAP Conference in Korea and invite you to this important conference.

Since 2002, the ICAPP series has provided a valuable opportunity to share new technologies, information and experience in nuclear power and to discuss important issues among industry, research, academic leaders and experts around the world. ICAPP 2023 / 38th KAP Conference will also provide the most precious fora for active discussion on various aspects of nuclear reactor development and applications. In particular, we will focus on SMRs, which have recently attracted global attention, and discuss diversifying applications of nuclear technology for more effective contribution to carbon neutrality and energy security. An international exhibition of nuclear industry will also be held in parallel.

Korea currently supplies 25 to 30 percent of its electricity with 25 nuclear power plants. Three more nuclear power plants are under construction, and two nuclear power plants, which were suspended at the start of construction, are also being prepared to resume construction. Gyeongju, the host city of ICAPP 2023 / 38th KAP Conference, is like a heart where you can feel the beat of Korean nuclear power. Gyeongju is also a representative cultural tourism city that has been the capital of the ancient kingdom for 1,000 years. ICAPP 2023 / 38th KAP Conference participants will enjoy not only technical content but also the scent of Korean history and culture.

We are also preparing a technical tour program covering a nuclear power plant and key component manufacturing facilities after the conference as well as cultural programs for accompanying families during the conference. The end of April is also the best season to visit Korea.

We look forward to meeting you at ICAPP 2023 / 38th KAP Conference in Gyeongju, the old capital of the millennium.
